User Manual
The user manual is an updated version of the manual that applied to
version 2003 of BV². The parts of the manual that describe aspects of BV²
that have not changed are, therefore, largely the same as the previous manual.
The structure of the user manual primarily provides guidance in the handling
of BV². Subordinate in this presentation is the theoretical background to
the model. In Nilsson, 1994 (Heating and Cooling Requirements in Commercial
Buildings, Document D27:1994, Inst. för Installationsteknik, Chalmers
Tekniska Högskola) the main part of the theoretical
model on which BV2 is based is detailed.
Chapter 1 schematically presents how diagrams of outdoor air temperature duration
can be used to determine a building's need for heating and/or
cooling. The chapter aims to give the user a brief introduction to how BV² 'works'.
In the chapter, a simplified presentation is used, in which no
consideration is given to the building's thermal mass (i.e., the ability to store heat).
Furthermore, the entire year is considered in one and the same diagram, whereas in BV² it is
divided between days and nights.
